West U · Bellaire · Southside Place · Braeswood

What should West U homeowners know about Christmas light installation?

West University Place is a small city of its own near Rice University, and that shows in the tree cover and the range of architecture on a single street. Original cottages sit beside large new-build homes, so the design has to follow the house rather than a pattern.

Old and new on one street. Original one-story cottages sit beside tall two-story new builds on the same standard lots, with steep pitched roofs, brick, siding and stone all in the mix. Attachment is chosen per surface, and the design follows the actual roofline instead of forcing one template across every house.

The canopy decides how much roofline is worth lighting. Under West U's mature live oaks a roofline can be half-hidden from the road. Wrapping trunks and lower limbs, plus pathway lighting, puts the display where it is visible rather than above the tree line.

New builds mean a taller roofline. Two-story homes with steep pitches put the top run well above the street. Measured, custom-cut runs and secure clips that hold through Gulf wind gusts and heavy rain keep that roofline straight all season.

Neighborhoods that decorate. West U and Bellaire streets see a lot of evening walkers and drive-by traffic in December, and many homes sit behind hedges and landscaping. Driveway-edge and pathway lighting brings the display out to the sidewalk so it reads up close, not just from a passing car.

West U questions

Asked by West U homeowners

Do you wrap the live oaks in West U?

Yes, and on many West U lots it matters as much as the roofline. Under mature live oaks the roof can be partly hidden from the street, so wrapping trunks and lower limbs is what makes the display visible from the road.

My street is shaded and my house sits behind the trees. Will the lights even show?

That's a common West U and Bellaire situation and it's solved with layers rather than more roofline. Pathway lighting, driveway edges, and wrapped trees bring the display forward so it starts at the sidewalk instead of at the house.

Can you light a tall two-story new build in West U or Bellaire?

Yes. Steep, high rooflines on new builds are measured and custom-cut, with clips chosen for the surface so the lines stay straight through wind and rain. The top story gets the same precision as the lower eaves, and nothing is drilled or nailed.

Before you decide

What people ask before they book

What if I don't like the design?

You see it before it goes up. We walk your home, design to its architecture, and show you the plan and the price. Nothing is ordered or installed until you say yes.

Will this damage my roof or gutters?

No. Every clip is made for the surface it sits on — no nails, no staples, no screws. We are fully insured, and there is nothing to repair when the lights come down.

What happens if a section goes dark in December?

Call or text us and we come out. Service is included for the whole season, with no per-visit charge.

How much of my time does this take?

One walkthrough at your home. After that we handle the design, the install, the service calls, the takedown and the storage.

Am I too late to book?

Installs begin October 1 and the calendar fills in the order homes are booked. The earlier you are on it, the more say you have over your install date.
